Booster meeting reminder

I am sorry I am late sending this. Just a reminder that the monthly booster meeting will be held  this Thursday, February 16, at 6 p.m. in the band room. I will send a weekly update tonight/tomorrow.

Band Booster meeting

This month’s band booster meeting will be on Thursday, February 16, at 6 p.m. in the band room. The day was changed due to Valentine’s Day being on the second Tuesday of this month. Please make an effort to attend. We will be discussing upcoming events such as the band banquet, spring trip, marching band/band camp, and other topics.

This week….. February 6

We have some students that will be representing us this weekend at two big band events.

Andrew Braley and Zack Tedders will be representing TSA at the annual District 11 Honor Band at Baldwin High School. District XI refers to the surrounding counties within Middle Georgia. Students in this event are represented from both public and private schools. Andrew is first chair at this honor band, in which 87 trombones from all over the surrounding Middle Georgia area auditioned. The concert will be this coming Saturday, February 11, at 2 p.m. at Baldwin High School auditorium.

This weekend is also the GISA Middle School Honor Band. The even will take place at Southland Academy in Americus, GA. Tattnall has 5 students attending this event. They are: Savannah Brown (6th grade flute), Devon Reno (8th grade trombone), Ben Barwick (6th grade xylophone), Hayden Odum (6th grade trumpet), and McGee Isgett (5th grade alto sax). The concert will be at Southland Academy this coming Sunday, February 12, at 2 p.m.

Our next booster meeting will be next week either on February 13 or 17 (Monday or Thursday). Details are being worked out on which day to have it one. It was decided not to have the meeting on the second Tuesday of this month due to Valentine’s Day being the second Tuesday of February.  I will post on here when I find out something from the booster officers.

Start looking for commitment letters going home with students about marching band next fall. Those will start going out around early March.

Upcoming Events:

February 11- District Honor Band

February 12- GISA Middle School All-Select

February 12- TSA Open House

February 12/13- Talent Show

March 29- Spring Band Concert (Attendance REQUIRED)

Basketball pep band Friday night

Tomorrow night’s basketball pep band (January 20) will be cancelled due to me being out of town. There will not be a make up for this.

This week…..January 8

Good afternoon! I hope the new year has treated you and your family well. The holiday break was relaxing, but it is good to be back at Tattnall!

This Tuesday, January 10, will be our monthly booster meeting. This meeting is open to all parents of band students 5th-12th grade. The meeting will start at 6 p.m. in the band room.

Basketball pep band will be on Tuesday, January 10, and Friday, January 20. Attached below is a list of which students will be on what nights. This will be a 100 point grade for all members in marching band (winds and percussion). Students need to meet each night at 6 p.m. in the band room.  Attached below is the list.

Basketball pep band list 2012
Congratulations to Andrew Braley, Zack Tedders, Garrett Stone, Kody Robinson, Robert Hilliard, and Charlie Ford for being accepted to the University of Georgia Honor Band “JanFest”. These guys will represent TSA well throughout the event and put on a concert after 48 hours of music instruction and rehearsal.

Congratulations to Andrew Braley and Zack Tedders for being accepted to the District XI Honor Band. These two auditioned in December for this and did well enough to audition for the state level, which took place on Saturday, January 7.

We are nearly half way through our goal of funds for new band uniforms. Back in December, we had a buyer interested in our band uniforms we currently had and offered a good amount of money to purchase the uniforms. With the funds from this sale, we are close to half way in our purchase of new band uniforms. If you or know of anyone that is interested in giving to this, please make donations to the school’s Annual Fund. Make sure you let it be known that the donation is for the purchase of new marching band uniforms.

Upcoming events:

This week….December 12

Good afternoon! This morning was the annual “Kids Yule Love” program at Tattnall. The Symphonic Band performed this morning and did a phenomenal job!

All the kids did a great job last week at both the Elementary musical and the band concert! With the holiday break approaching, students need to bring instruments home and practice over the break so we can hit the ground running when we start back in January.

Tonight is our annual booster meeting. The meeting will take place either in the band room or the Media Center and will start at 6 p.m. Starting in January, our booster meetings will be on the second Tuesday of every month. These meetings are open to any parent in the band program.

Congratulations to Andrew Braley and Zack Tedders for making District Honor Band as well as making it to the second round of All-State auditions. Andrew is first chair within District 11, out of 45 trombones. Austin Tedders also auditioned and placed tenth out of 85 percussionists in District 11 for middle school.

Here are some upcoming dates:

January 10- basketball pep band

January 19-22- UGA JanFest

January 20- basketball pep band

February 10-11 – District 11 Honor Band

February 11-12- GISA All-Select Middle School Band

February 12-13 – Tattnall Square Academy Talent Show

March 29- Spring Band concert @ 7 p.m.

There is a band calendar on the TSA Band webpage (www.tsaband.org). Please check and use it as a reference for your calendar at home.

I will more than likely not blog during the Christmas break. Expect to hear something from me after the New Year. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and God bless!

Booster meeting changed

I’m sorry for the last minute change for our monthly booster meeting, but our President and Vice President will both not be able to attend on Monday, November 14. It is my understanding that in order to conduct business, one of these two has to be present at the meeting.

The meeting will be the same time but on Thursday, November 17. The meeting will be at 6 p.m. in the band room. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Dinner before tomorrow’s football game.

Students need to eat before the game. I will be leaving campus tomorrow after school and will not be ordering pizza. Students need to be at the school by 6 p.m. tomorrow to get ready for the football game.
